Batley care home host cosy pyjama day for residents and staff

Staff at a Batley residential and dementia care home joined residents in dressing down for a cosy pyjama day.

To make the event even more memorable residents at the luxury care home, Lydgate Lodge, were invited along in their loungewear to a very special teddy bears’ picnic.

Tables were set with traditional navy blue and white checked tablecloths and staff, residents and bears shared a tasty indoor picnic of sandwiches, crisps, sausage rolls and fairy cakes.

Staff took the opportunity to run an informal reminiscence session with residents, encouraging them to talk about memories of childhood day trips and favourite teddy bears.

The day brought up many happy recollections, and residents shared tales of their younger years that they had never told before.

Although the idea for the pyjama day came from residents, staff said they also thoroughly enjoyed it.

Home Manager, Anna Owsicka, said: “It made a real change coming to work in my PJs. I felt very comfortable all day, and staff were definitely very relaxed and having fun.

“I don’t think we will have a jammies dress code every day, but once in a while it’s a lovely thing to do. The teddy bears also enjoyed their picnic.”
