De Brook Lodge care home promotes wellness with spa evenings

Staff at De Brook Lodge care home, located on Irlam Road in Flixton, recently transformed the home into a luxury spa for their residents.

The ladies all received individual invitations to attend a ‘Pamper Party’, and the gentlemen a ‘Gents Night’.

The ladies in the home were able to relax with cocktails, massages, manicures, face masks and lots of treats.

The gentlemen were visited by the Refined Mobile Barber Co., who offer a traditional barber service to those in care settings. The group were given a fresh haircut and clean shave, before enjoying a game of darts, lots of treats and some cold pints to finish the evening off.

One of the gents who enjoyed the night of pampering was 91-year-old Leslie Stott, he said,

‘It was lovely to have a barber give me a haircut, and it was nice to listen to my favourite brass band music whilst relaxing in the barbers.’

The staff at De Brook Lodge hope to make their ‘Pamper Parties’ and ‘Gents Nights’ regular events. The Home Manager, Rachel McIntosh, said,

‘We organised the Pamper Party and Gents Night to promote wellness in our home. We wanted to bring our residents together, so that they could get to know each other and so we could spend some more quality time with each person.

‘It’s very important that our residents feel they are living each day to the fullest, and have access to a variety of activities. Our residents absolutely loved both nights, and we can’t wait to organise the next one!’
