‘Generations Come Together’ at Sandbach Care Home Sensory Play Session
Sandbach care home, Elworth Grange, had a blast when they invited families from the My Babytime group for a morning of intergenerational fun.
The session was organised as part of the home’s Open Week, in which staff and residents invited the public to various events in the home.
Residents, parents and children gathered in Elworth Grange’s lounge area, where they enjoyed music, sensory toys and activities, puppets, bubble blowing and parachute games.
89-year-old resident, Roy Ashton, said ‘It was very good, I enjoyed it very much. It’s taken me back a few years to when my children were small. It was nice to relive the memories again.’
The Home Manager at Elworth Grange, Sarah Rodger, said ‘it was lovely to see the residents laughing with the children’. She continued,
‘We were so pleased when My Babytime agreed to come visit us, and what a turnout! The session really made our residents’ day, and I think we’ve all made some strong friendships.’
Class leader and representative from My Babytime, Hannah, said,
‘It was magical watching the two generations come together. We all had so much fun and we can’t wait to come back and see everyone again.’
Elworth Grange is also inviting the local community to their Community Give Back Friday events. All are welcome to enjoy a chip butty with the staff and residents in the home from 12:00-14:00.
