Stockport Care Home Appeals for Birthday Cards for 101-Year-Old Resident
Brinnington Hall care home in Stockport is launching a public appeal for birthday cards to celebrate resident, Kathleen Jones’, 101st Birthday on 23rd March.
Born in 1922 in Ashton-Under-Lyne, Kathleen worked on the National Assistance Board through WWII, until she married her husband, Leonard in 1944 when she was 22, and had four children.
When her boys were old enough, Kathleen decided it was time to get back to work, getting a part time job as a Ward Aide at Marple Dale Hospital. In her spare time, Kathleen enjoyed playing tennis, birdwatching, art classes and embroidery.
In May 2022, Kathleen moved into Brinnington Hall, where she will be celebrating her 101st birthday with homemade cake, prepared by the home’s kitchen team. Kathleen said,
‘The secret to a long and healthy life is to just keep breathing. Don’t smoke, don’t drink, eat healthily, stay active. I’ve always read to keep my mind active.
‘Take everyday as it comes, and make sure you’re happy by surrounding yourself with nice people.’
Karen Harrison, the Home Manager at Brinnington Hall, said,
‘We’re really looking forward to giving Kathleen a special 101st birthday, and we hope the community will help us by sending 101 birthday cards for her to enjoy!’
You can send all birthday cards to Kathleen Jones, Brinnington Hall Care Home, Middlesex Road, Stockport, Manchester, SK5 8HT.
