Millcroft care home in Redditch have been challenging children in the community to find the ‘Millcroft Mice’, which are painted on stones and hidden around local parks.
The residents and staff at Millcroft hid 22 mice in total and posted the challenge on Facebook, asking children in the area to find the mice and return them to Millcroft to receive a special reward.
87-year-old Millcroft resident, Patricia Tuckley, said, ‘It’s great to see the kids getting out and about looking for our mice and bringing them home.
‘It’s been lovely seeing them come to the home with the biggest smiles on their faces waiting for their rewards. I love that we always come up with new ideas to bring our community to Millcroft.’
So far, 18 ‘Millcroft Mice’ have been returned to the home, with four remaining hidden around the parks of Redditch, like Arrow Valley Country Park and Redditch Band Stand.
Mia (10) and Rowan (4) Burford were among the first to find some of the mice. They popped into Millcroft with their mum, Sinead Paul, who said,
‘We thoroughly enjoyed searching for the mice, it was something fun to do with the kids in the local area and it didn’t cost a penny! Thank you, Millcroft.’
Lyndsay Sard, the Home Manager at Millcroft, said, ‘We’ve loved seeing all the children come to Millcroft, they’ve been a huge help finding our cheeky Millcroft Mice!
‘There are still some mice to find, so keep hunting! Don’t forget, there are some special prizes waiting at Millcroft for everyone who brings our mice home.’
Millcroft are also inviting families in the area to their upcoming Motorfest on Saturday 16th September. Free to attend, guests are welcome to join the residents at the home to admire cars and motorbikes from across the decades.
