Rivendell View care home in Stoke Bardolph was named a finalist in care home provider Ideal Carehomes’ annual Gardens in Bloom competition.
Gardens in Bloom aims to engage Ideal Carehomes’ teams, residents and the local community in creating wonderful outside spaces for everyone to enjoy.
Rivendell View was named the winner in the North Midlands region by the Gardens in Bloom judges, who were impressed by their ‘Flower Power’ theme and life size Beatles scarecrows.
Deborah Hughes, an Ideal Carehomes Regional Director and Gardens in Bloom judge, said, ‘There’s a great sense of pride amongst the residents and team members at Rivendell View over their gardens, and rightly so!
‘Every wonderful feature in the garden was chosen by the residents, and the local school painted wooden flowers for the residents to use as decoration. It’s a truly beautiful space to spend time – congratulations, Rivendell View!’
81-year-old resident, Joyce Rowbotham, commented, ‘I’ve really enjoyed taking part in Gardens in Bloom. I loved transforming our garden into something we can all be proud of and it’s fantastic to be named a finalist. All our hard work paid off!’
The Home Manager at Rivendell View, Lisa Tungate, added, ‘I am extremely proud of how the staff and residents joined with our local community to design such a beautiful space in the garden for all to enjoy.
‘Everyone got really involved on the day of judging by dressing up to match the 70’s ‘Flower Power’ theme of the garden. Great fun was had by all.’
