Swadlincote Care Home Takes the Crown in Annual Gardening Competition
Residents from Cadley Hill View care home in Swadlincote are celebrating being crowned champions of care home provider, Ideal Carehomes’, annual Gardens in Bloom competition.
Gardens in Bloom aims to engage Ideal Carehomes’ teams, residents and the local community in creating wonderful outside spaces for everyone to enjoy.
Cadley Hill View was announced the winner of the national competition, which saw 36 care homes make their garden visions a reality.
The judges were particularly impressed by Cadley Hill View’s array of wildlife-friendly flowers, buzzing honeybee hives and fresh fruit and vegetable patches. 93-year-old resident and avid gardener, Jean Parkes, said,
‘I’ve done gardening all my life, it’s a good way to pass the time and it makes me happy being outdoors. I’m so pleased that we’ve won, and I’m so very happy to be a part of Cadley Hill View.’
Stacie Weaver, the Home Manager at Cadley Hill View, added, ‘Our residents talk about their garden most days and it certainly brings a smile to everyone’s face.
‘Real pride has been taken by the residents and team to get the garden looking so beautiful as well as making an effort to improve wildlife traffic, and we couldn’t be happier to have won the title this year!’
