Brize Norton Care Home to Open ‘Poppy Inn’ Veterans Bar on Remembrance Sunday
Brize Meadow Lodge care home in Brize Norton, home to the largest RAF base in the UK, is gearing up for the grand opening of their Poppy Inn veteran’s bar on Sunday 12th November in honour of Remembrance Sunday.
Complete with photos and displays commemorating Brize Norton’s vast RAF history donated from the local community, the bar provides a warm and welcoming space for all, whether it be for a quiet coffee with friends or a special occasion.
Serving hot drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and delicious homemade snacks, the staff and residents are excited to welcome the public to the grand opening and ribbon cutting, which will be performed by resident and former RAF Warrant Officer, Brian Montgomery MBE.
101-year-old resident, Peggy Linfield, who served in the Women’s Royal Naval Service, added, ‘It’s a fantastic place; we can’t wait for the opening and to spend an evening or two at the bar.’
Frances Payne, the Home Manager at Brize Meadow Lodge, said, ‘As such a large part of our history, our residents and team members wanted to pay tribute to RAF Brize Norton.
‘We’re incredibly grateful for all the memorabilia donated by the community to make the Poppy Inn such a beautiful place to visit.
‘All are welcome to the grand opening on Remembrance Sunday at 14:00, where we’ll have lots of delicious refreshments available after our ribbon cutting ceremony.’
The Poppy Inn grand opening will take place at Brize Meadow Lodge, Miles Drive, Brize Norton, OX18 1NZ.
