Newark Care Home Display Over 700 Handmade Poppies for Remembrance Day
Kings Court care home in Newark is proudly displaying over 700 crocheted poppies, handmade by residents and members of the community in honour of Remembrance Day.
After offering ‘poppy packs’ to local people with all the materials needed to crochet a poppy, residents and staff were astounded by the response from supporters in the area.
91-year-old resident, Laura Newman, said, ‘Remembering those who have fallen is a very special thing. I’m very happy with all of our poppies; I even helped to make some myself.’
The residents and staff at Kings Court are looking forward to welcoming members of the Royal British Legion on Friday 10th November for a special Remembrance Day service.
Tarnya Fairburn, the Home Manager at Kings Court, commented, ‘Our poppy display is truly a sight to behold! We’re so grateful to everyone who took the time to crochet a poppy, and we can’t wait to welcome our friends from the Royal British Legion.
‘All are welcome to join us, just pop along at 14:00 to Kings Court. We’ll have the kettle on!’
Kings Court’s Remembrance Day display and service is at Kings Court care home, Flaxley Lane, Middlebeck, Newark, NG24 3XB.
