Care Home Residents Reminisce Onboard the ‘Nottingham Princess’ River Cruise

Residents from Fairway View care home in Bulwell were surprised with a special trip onboard the Nottingham Princess cruiser to sail down the River Trent.

Boarding at the River Lodge, the residents enjoyed the scenic cruise, taking in the sights of Nottingham with a delicious two-course meal whilst waving at passers-by.

96-year-old resident Joyce Giles said, ‘It was such a lovely day; the weather might not have been on our side, but that didn’t matter. It was wonderful to take in the sights and see the city – I can’t believe how much it’s changed over the years!’

Along the way, the residents saw popular, well-know spots like the ‘Red Cliffs’, St Edmunds Church and Radcliffe Viaduct.

Melanie Hayes, the Home Manager at Fairway View, added, ‘When planning special trips like these for our residents, its important that we do something that’s meaningful to them, and the river cruise was certainly a trip to remember.

‘Seeing their smiles and listening to everyone reminisce about their lives in the local area was amazing – we couldn’t have asked for a better day!’
