Kidderminster Care Home Residents Knit to Support Birmingham Maternity Ward

Residents from Foley Grange care home in Kidderminster have been using their knitting skills to support families in the maternity ward at Birmingham City Hospital.

After receiving word that the ward was in need of newborn  baby hats, a group of knitting fanatics at Foley Grange grabbed their needles and wool and got to work.

91-year-old resident and knitted of eight decades, Betty Milward, said, ‘I would encourage everyone to learn how to knit, it’s a very useful hobby to have. This was a truly wonderful project and it was lovely to deliver our hats to the hospital in person.’

Bethany Phillips, the Front of House Manager at Foley Grange added, ‘Arts and crafts activities are so popular at Foley Grange, and it never ceases to amaze us how generous our residents are when it comes to using their talents to support the community.’

The gifted knitters at Foley Grange continue to meet every Monday at 11:00 for a Knit and Natter Club, which is open  to all members of the local community. Here, guests can work on their creative projects whilst getting to know the residents over a hot drink and delicious cakes.
