Millcroft care home in Redditch was visited by Member of Parliament (MP) for Redditch and the Villages, Chris Bloore during UK Parliament Week.
UK Parliament Week, which takes place from November 18 to 24, 2024. aims to spread the word about what Parliament is and the roles of local dignitaries, what Parliament and local dignitaries do, and how individuals can get involved, act and make an impact on the issues they care about.
Residents and colleagues of the care home enjoyed meeting MP Chris Bloore and spoke to him about life at Millcroft – which is an integral part of the Redditch community.
Chris received a tour around the 66-bedded care home, including the dining room, tearoom, lounge, bedrooms and gardens. Chris enjoyed meeting colleagues and residents.
Chris spent time talking to residents as care home staff members and residents engaged their local politician with a variety of fun-filled activities for UK Parliament Week. This included taking part in online Q&A sessions, quizzes and lively debates; debating issues and holding votes; creating petitions; holding themed assemblies and council elections; baking and crafting.
Jennifer Skyba, Front of House Manager at Millcroft said:
“It was lovely hosting Chris. He left with a goody bag with a Christmas card hand-painted by one of the residents and an invitation to our pantomime next week.
“We had a good chat, and he seemed genuinely interested in some of the issues that were raised. Chris will be looking into these issues going forward which is promising.”
