Staff and residents at Hambleton Grange care home in Thirsk enjoyed a day beside the seaside recently, when they took a trip to Whitby.
Joined by their family members, the residents were excited to explore the coast, and see everything the historic town had to offer.
96-year-old Mary Ritchie and 98-year-old Agnes Kaye especially loved their visit to the fish and chip shop for lunch. Mary said,
‘We all had a lovely time, and the fish and chips were very good! The trip reminded me of where I grew up in Scotland, and I can’t wait to go to Whitby again.’
The group finished off their fish and chip lunch with an ice cream by the shore, and set out to find some ocean life on the beach. They even managed to catch a crab to get a closer look, before releasing it back into the sea.
Before the drive home, everyone went on the search for a souvenir to remember their day out.
The Home Manager at Hambleton Grange, Sandra Anderson, said,
‘It’s important to us to be able to take our residents on trips to places they enjoy, and live each day to its fullest. It’s also great opportunity for everyone to get to know each other in a different setting.
‘We can’t wait to ask our residents where they would like to go next!’
