Blakelands Lodge care home, situated on Gee View in Marston Moretaine, has officially opened its doors thanks to a special guest, Hannah Ingram-Moore, successful businesswoman and daughter of Captain Sir Tom Moore.
Ingram-Moore joined the new Blakelands Lodge care team and the local community to cut the ribbon at the official open day event, taking an exclusive tour of the brand-new state of the art facilities, which are now open to residents.
Attendees were also able to enjoy a vintage themed afternoon tea and games with the care home’s special mascot, the Blakelands Bee. Professional vocalist and entertainer, Neil Richardson, provided entertainment for the event.
Blakelands Lodge is Ideal Carehomes’ 29th care home and has all the finishing touches you would expect from a luxurious new home. It has been designed with residents in mind with large, open plan social areas and ultra-wide corridors.
Residents will enjoy all the luxury facilities on offer at Blakelands Lodge, including a luxurious Sky Bar with far-reaching views, a vintage tearoom complete with a balcony area and a cinema room.
Impressed by the home, Hannah Ingram-Moore said: “I was honoured to be asked to open Blakelands Lodge care home. My daughter Georgia and I met Diane, the Home Manager, who took us on our wonderful tour. I can honestly say that we were both amazed at the quality of the facilities.’
“When my father came to live with me and my family at the age of 87, we wanted to ensure that he lived well at the heart of our family. For many years, he didn’t need any assistance with his day-to-day life, in fact, he helped us!
“As my father’s needs slowly changed, we tried to quietly support him, however, he needed that support. I can honestly say that Blakelands Lodge felt exactly the same in its ethos.
“We wish the team and all the new residents the warmest of wishes and we hope to see you soon.”
Home manager, Diane Lee, said: “It felt incredible to finally open the doors of our beautiful new home, Blakelands Lodge.
“We were overwhelmed with the number of visitors, the positive feedback we received, and the generosity of the local community who donated so many amazing raffle prizes to raise money for our Residents Fund.”
Blakelands Lodge is a residential and dementia care home and is now welcoming new residents for short and long-term placements with a unique inclusive fee to give peace of mind to residents and their families.
The founding residents will play a special role in establishing the home and shaping its future as well as receiving a reduced weekly fee of £1100 per week, a saving of £100 every week until the end of 2022.
