Brand-New Houghton Regis Care Home Gears Up for First Ever Open Week!
Staff and residents at Thorn Springs care home in Houghton Regis are getting ready to host their first ever Open Week from Monday30th January.
During Open Week, all are welcome to Thorn Springs to enjoy a variety of activities every day.
Visitors will also be able to tour the home, speak to the staff and meet the residents, learning all about the Thorn Springs lifestyle.
Open Week will kick-off with a visit from Ark Farm on Monday from 11:00, where lots of fury friends will be waiting to greet everyone. In the afternoon, the Bedfordshire Rural Charity Community will be holding a fun card making session in the home from 14:00-15:00, just in time for Valentines Day.
On Tuesday at 11:00, guests are welcome to join in on an hour of Pilates and gentle exercise with the Luton Ladies, who will demonstrate the kind of physical activities Thorn Springs residents are able to take part in.
From 10:00 on Wednesday, all are invited to come along and meet the Bedfordshire Fire Brigade, who will be sharing the experiences and skills they use to protect the community. During the afternoon from 14:00, Thorn Springs will be welcoming the team from Keech Hospice to talk about their services and future fundraising events to support those in need.
On Thursday, visitors will be able to watch The Luton Town Girls Football Club show off their skills from 15:00 with a football demonstration afternoon.
Come along for a morning on Qigong on Friday from 10:00, where guests are invited to join in on a session of slow flowing movements to promote a calm aura and a peaceful mind. It’s then time to get creative on Friday afternoon at 14:00, when Time to Connect and Bedfordshire Rural Charity Community hold an arts and crafts session in the home.
On Saturday, the final day of Open Week, the community will be welcome to join the Thorn Springs residents for wax melts and candle making with KandL from 9:00 until 12:00. In the afternoon from 14:00, the All Saints Church Choir will end Open Week with some well-known hymns, showing their amazing vocal talents.
The Home Manager at Thorn Springs, Katie Hughes, said,
