Residents from York care home, Ebor Court, recently celebrated Afternoon Tea Week with some delicious treats donated by their community.
The residents at Ebor Court were thrilled to find a beautiful spread of baked goods in the care home’s garden, where they were able to soak up some sun over a cuppa, cake and chat.
The spread of sweet treats had been homemade and donated to Ebor Court by several members of the community, including volunteers from The Poppleton Methodist Church.
Long-time friends of Ebor Court, the volunteers from the church had kindly offered to provide some tasty cakes and scones for the event, after the residents had attended a church coffee morning.
One of the residents’ favourite York city centre cafes, Crumbs Cupcakery, also donated some of their famous artisan cupcakes. Cara from Crumbs Cupcakery said,
“We were all delighted to see the residents enjoying our cupcakes during Afternoon Tea Week. It was a pleasure donating the cakes to Ebor Court.”
91-year-old resident, Dorothy Greenwood, said, `Our afternoon tea was lovely. There were so many cakes, I couldn’t believe it – the ones I had were delicious! `
The Home Manager at Ebor Court, Shane Talbot, said ‘We are so grateful to the volunteers at The Poppleton Methodist Church, Crumbs Cupcakery and everyone who donated delicious cakes for our residents’ Afternoon Tea Week celebration.
‘It means a great deal to us to have such a kind and supportive community behind us, and we hope to continue to form strong friendships.’
