Cannock Care Home Resident Recognised for ‘Outstanding Contributions’ in Prestigious Awards

77-year-old Ben Tillson from Littleton Lodge care home has been named a finalist in the prestigious Ideal Care Awards, hosted by care home provider Ideal Carehomes.

The Ideal Care Awards seek to recognise the hard-work and dedication demonstrated by Ideal Carehomes’ team members and kindness shown by residents across all 36 of the provider’s care homes.

With over 1000 nominations submitted this year, the awards have seven categories to vote in ranging from Care Assistant of the Year to the Kindness in Care Award, to Home of the Year.

Ben was nominated as a finalist for the Resident Outstanding Contribution Award. This award gives credit to those residents who are the life and soul of their homes, joining in with activities and making the most of every day.

Ben’s carers and peers nominated Ben for his enthusiasm and welcoming nature in making others feel welcome to Littleton Lodge, and for always taking part with a smile on his face.

Ben said, ‘I was surprised to be nominated, I just like to do what I can to help out, I don’t do anything for recognition. I feel honoured to be a finalist, I have the best family here at Littleton Lodge.’ 

The winners in the Ideal Care Awards will be announced at a glitzy ‘dress to impress’ awards ceremony on 17th April 2024, held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in the East Midlands and hosted by celebrity guest, Shaun Williamson.

Michelle Bywater, the Home Manager at Littleton Lodge, added, ‘Since moving to Littleton Lodge in April 2023, Ben has done some simply amazing things. 

‘He asked to dress up as Santa at Christmas to deliver some gifts to a local children’s hospital, he dressed up as the Easter bunny to make our egg hunt extra special for the community – he’s such a kind and generous person, and we feel so lucky to have him as part of our family.’
