Award-winning residential and dementia care provider, Ideal Carehomes, has officially launched its annual Gardens in Bloom competition.
Gardens in Bloom encourages Ideal Carehomes’ staff and residents across the country to work together to create beautiful outdoor spaces for everyone to enjoy.
Each year, the garden transformations are a real community effort, with local garden centres, businesses, and schools donating their time and resources to help the care homes build impressive displays and garden features.
In 2022, Ash Tree House in Wigan and Herald Lodge in Coventry were crowned joint winners of Gardens in Bloom for their flourishing flowerbeds, creative seating areas and heart-warming sense of community when designing their gardens.
88-year-old Herald Lodge resident, Alice Pickering, said, ‘We put in so much effort when creating our garden last year, I knew we would win! I jumped for joy when we were told we had won, and I vowed to make our garden even bigger and better this year.’
This year, with 36 care homes competing for the crown, the Gardens in Bloom judges are looking forward to seeing some new, innovative garden designs.
Stacey Linn, the Managing Director at Ideal Carehomes, said,
‘It’s wonderful to see the friendships that are built and nurtured when residents, staff and communities work together during the Gardens in Bloom competition.
‘Last year, we were blown away by the unique gardens and outdoor displays shown by each of our care homes, so the standards are set pretty high this year. We can’t wait to see what ideas our care homes come up with!’
