Care Home Residents Say ‘Aloha’ on National Cocktail Day

Residents from Littleton Lodge care home in Cannock recently celebrated National Cocktail Day with a Hawaiian themed party in the home’s Sky Bar.

The Sky Bar was decorated with tropical flowers and colourful streamers, with each resident being given a Lei, the colourful garland which is the symbol of welcome in Hawaii, before choosing their favourite cocktail or mocktail to celebrate.

After hitting the dancefloor, listening to some classic ‘old school’ tunes, residents enjoyed games of pool and dominos.

86-year-old resident, Betty Ayres, whose favourite cocktails were a Blue Lagoon and a Strawberry Daiquiri, said,

‘I had a wonderful afternoon! It was lovely to catch up with everyone and what better way to celebrate the day than with a cocktail.’

Julie Anderson, the Home Manager at Littleton Lodge, added, ‘Our residents love getting together to celebrate, so we make the most of every opportunity we get! It was great to see everyone having a good laugh together.’

On the last Friday of every month, residents at Littleton Lodge are inviting the local community into the home for a Coffee Morning. From 10:30 until 12:00, all are welcome to join the residents for a hot drink, delicious homemade cakes, and a chat.
