To all our residents, relatives and friends,
COVID 19 (Coronavirus) – Update
Social contact and visits are a hugely important part of care home life and our resident’s wellbeing has certainly benefitted immensely over the last couple of months since we have been able to welcome loved ones back for social room and external visits.
We are keen to move forward with visits in order to get back to life as we know it as quickly as possible and the next step is that loved ones can now be an essential care giver, enabling them to visit residents within their rooms. Although this is a positive step, with various new Covid-19 strains being discovered and an increased risk of infections from the community, we must remain cautious so that we continue to protect our residents.
Each resident may have one essential care giver and they must complete a health questionnaire and sign an agreement to ensure that they understand the risks involved. We must see proof that the essential care giver has received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and they are required to complete two lateral flow tests and one PCR test each week at the home (there will be designated times to take the tests).
Please let your Home Manager know directly if you would like to be considered as an essential care giver and they will provide you with all the necessary information.
In the meantime, our outdoor and social room visits continue as normal and we will keep you updated as this moves forward. It is great to see our homes being able to host small outdoor events and also to have our much-loved entertainers back which everyone is thoroughly enjoying.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our teams for their outstanding work within our homes, and also for the high uptake of the Covid-19 vaccine which just proves their dedication to their roles and their residents.
As always, your Home Manager is available to answer any questions you may have.
