Crofton Springs Launches Cheltenham Community Art Contest

Brand-new luxury care home, Crofton Springs in Cheltenham has launched a Community Art Contest in partnership with Cheltenham Art Club ahead of the home’s eagerly awaited opening in October this year.

Crofton Springs is named in tribute to Frances Emilia Crofton, an accomplished landscape painter who spent her late years living in Cheltenham. Crofton was a highly respected advocate for charities who supported the less fortunate and flourished in the mid-19th century.

In honour of the famous artist, Crofton Springs Community Art Contest invites locals to enter their masterpieces based around the theme ‘The Charm of Cheltenham’, exploring places of beauty in the area.

All competitors will be invited to an open gallery event where their artwork will be displayed, and community members will be given the opportunity to vote for their favourite pieces.

The community’s top three contestants will be given the opportunity to display their artwork at Crofton Springs. Judges will also pick one talented artist to win a £100 voucher to spend at Winsor and Newton art supplier.

Maria Taylor, the Head of New Builds Commissioning, said, ‘In opening our new home in Cheltenham, it’s important for us to capture the strong community spirit we’ve come to find in the area.

‘In particular, the sense of togetherness we’ve discovered in the local art scene has been incredible, and we’re excited to showcase the talents of artists in and around Cheltenham. All are welcome to enter, and we look forward to seeing your showpieces.’
