Dewsbury care home residents celebrate Queen’s Jubilee with a family garden party

Residents at Ashworth Grange care home in Dewsbury enjoyed a weekend full of celebrations to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

During the long bank holiday weekend, the care home staff organised a special Jubilee garden party so that residents could celebrate together with their families.

The party included a BBQ and an outside bar, with live entertainment from local singer, Billy Blaze. Many staff and residents also wore red, white and blue for the occasion.

Staff organised a range of fun activities for residents throughout the weekend, including a ‘pin the diamond on the crown’ game and Jubilee bingo, which was served with a Jubilee themed afternoon tea.

Ashworth Grange activities co-ordinator, Colette Senior, said: “Everyone has enjoyed all our Jubilee celebrations, especially the Jubilee party. It was our first event for families following the pandemic and it was a huge success. It was a perfect day where all staff, residents and families spent quality time together and had fun.

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the staff who helped to organise and run the event, including out kitchen team for the fabulous BBQ. Thanks also to our amazing families who came along to share the celebrations and to Billy who got us all up and singing our hearts out.”

Anne Eady, the daughter in law of one resident, Tony Eady, said: “This is the first event we have been to at Ashworth and it has been amazing! Everyone had a fantastic time and it was lovely to be able to spend time with Tony and his friends here at Ashworth.”

Ashworth Grange, situated on Ashworth Green in Dewsbury, is a purpose-built, luxury residential and dementia care home operated by Ideal Carehomes. It has 64 ensuite bedrooms and has been rated good by the Care Quality Commission.
