Droitwich Care Home Sponsors Worcester’s ‘Biggest Celebration’, Worcester Carnival
Woodland View care home in Droitwich is gearing up to take part in Worcester Carnival on Saturday 1st July as sponsors of the charity event.
Funded through grants, fundraising and sponsorships from local businesses, the carnival includes a parade of floats and community performers around the city centre, street entertainers, stalls, food and much more.
Adam Bullock from the Worcester Carnival Team said, ‘Worcester Carnival’s mission is to organise Worcester’s biggest celebration of everyone we call our neighbours in the city of Worcester.
‘We couldn’t do this without the support of our brilliant sponsors, and we’re thrilled that Woodland View is one of our main sponsors this year, helping us to showcase the best that our city has to offer. We are anticipating a spectacular day and we couldn’t do this without community-centred businesses like Woodland View.’
Residents and staff members in the home are looking forward to celebrating atop their own Alice in Wonderland themed carnival float, ‘Alice in Woodland View’, designed by the residents and community members.
91-year-old resident, Gerald McCarty, recalled taking part in the Worcester Carnival as a child, saying,
‘I was in the carnival when I was 14 years old in 1946. I was dressed as a convict and tied to the stocks! I am really excited to see how our float turns out and I’ve enjoyed helping with designing and creating our decorations.’
The Home Manager at Woodland View, Lisa Dews, who will be dressing up as the Cheshire Cat on the home’s float, said,
‘It’s a real honour to be sponsoring this years Worcester Carnival, everyone at Woodland View is so excited to be part of such an incredible community event.
‘Watch out for our fabulous Alice in Woodland View parade float, where we’ll all be dressed up as your favourite ‘Wonderland’ characters!’
