Foley Grange Care Home Celebrates ‘GOOD’ Rating in First CQC Inspection

Foley Grange care home in Kidderminster, operated by Ideal Carehomes, has been rated ‘GOOD’ in their first inspection by healthcare standards inspectors, the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Open in 2021, Foley Grange has been rated ‘GOOD in all key lines of enquiry; Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-Led.

During the visit, CQC inspectors observed the residents’ experiences in the home. They spoke to several residents, their families, and staff members, seeking feedback on the lifestyle the care home offers.

In the resulting report from the CQC, residents living at Foley Grange said they felt ‘safe by the staff who supported them’, stating that ‘staff are kind, helpful and respectful’ in the care they provide.

One resident, Joan Davies, commented, ‘I wouldn’t be able to manage if I wasn’t at Foley Grange. The staff are very caring, attentive, kind and accommodating.’

Another resident, Eileen Vincent, added, ‘I can’t find fault with living here. The care is very good, the food is lovely; I’m waited on hand and foot!’

After observing interactions between staff members and residents, the CQC inspectors noted that the residents at Foley Grange were encouraged to ‘express their views and make decisions about their care’ in order to ‘maintain their independence’.

One resident stated, ‘[The Home Manager] checks everything is okay, I wouldn’t hesitate to go to them’ with a relative adding, ‘[The Home Manager] is approachable, their door is always open.’

Inspectors also stated that there was an ‘positive and open culture’ at Foley Grange and were especially impressed with the monthly meetings where residents and staff come together to share suggestions and comments.

Upon speaking to staff members at Foley Grange, the inspectors found that the people who worked there felt ‘well supported and valued by the registered manager and provider’, and said they were given opportunities to ‘progress their career’.

Melissa Reid, a Senior Care Assistant at Foley Grange, said, ‘I have loved every single second of working at Foley Grange, and we’re all over the moon at the outcome of our CQC inspection.

‘We are such a great team, and we always ensure the residents have top quality care, which shines through in the report.’
