Generations Come Together at Bicester Care Home Sensory Play Session
Residents from Bicester care home, Launton Grange, enjoyed a morning of intergenerational fun when they invited local families to a mother and baby play group.
The session was organised to give the residents at Launton Grange an opportunity to meet new people, and to give new mums a warm, safe space to bring their children for some family fun.
Residents, mums and children all gathered in the home’s lounge where they had a great time playing with sensory toys and games, books and bubble blowers.
95-year-old resident, Helen Steele, said ‘It was so nice to see the children’s smiley faces, to hear their laughter and to see how well they played with each other. It reminded me of when I was looking after my children.’
One local mother, Nicki Playford, brought her children to the first session and can’t wait to attend the next. She said, ‘I’d like to thank Launton Grange from the bottom of my heart for welcoming myself and my children into the home. We had a really lovely time playing and mixing with the residents.’
Launton Grange will be inviting local families back into the home every other week for the play sessions, with the next event being held on Wednesday 15th February from 11:00. Snacks and refreshments will be available to all visitors.
Stephanie Eley, the Home Manager at Launton Grange, said, ‘We had such a great turnout for our first Mother and Baby Group, it was heart-warming to see so many generations come together. There’s no need to book a place for our next session, just turn up and we’ll take care of the rest!’
