A brand-new luxury care home in Kidderminster has welcomed it’s very first resident.
Jim James moved into Foley Grange, situated on Silverwoods Way, on 10thJanuary and has described it as his “home from home”.
Jim, who was born in Kidderminster and has lived in the area his whole life, says he couldn’t have found a better place to live, “I have really enjoyed my first few weeks at Foley Grange. The staff have been so kind and we’ve had a lot of fun already.
“The food is incredible; the chef made me my favourite roast pork with crackling on my first day. I have also had a relaxing hand massage, enjoyed some fresh air in the gardens and spent time with our other new residents in the Sky Bar playing dominoes.”
On the day he moved in, Jim, who used to work as an administration and accounts officer for the former Kidderminster Borough Council and for Wyre Forest District Council, was invited to perform the ribbon cutting to officially open the luxury care home.
He added: “I was honoured to be asked to perform the official opening and have been eager to encourage others to move in too so I always recommend it to people when they come to have a look around.
“My late wife, Norah, passed away in 2011. We were married for 53 years. When our daughters, Bernice and Louise, first came to visit Foley Grange, they were very impressed. They enjoy coming here to see me and have helped me to settle in and make it home.
“Norah and I used to enjoy looking after older people when we were younger, taking them out and about, to the shops or for a walk. We also used to fundraise for older people’s charities.”
Foley Grange, operated by Ideal Carehomes, is a residential and dementia care home. It has benefitted from a £12m investment and provides all the finishing touches you would expect from a luxury care home, including a plush cinema room, lavish Sky Bar with far-reaching views, a vintage tearoom complete with balcony area, hairdressing salon and airy botanical garden rooms leading onto spacious landscaped gardens.
Since Jim opened the care home, Foley Grange has welcomed more new residents. The care home will eventually provide a safe and luxurious home for up to 66 older people and, once fully staffed, will employ around 50 team members.
The spacious en-suite bedrooms and latest care technology will allow the care team to deliver person-centred care in a dignified manner, promoting independence as far as possible.
Home Manager, Dawn Leaver, said: “It has been a pleasure to welcome Jim to the Foley Grange family and we look forward to spending more time with him.
“Since he has been here, Jim has got involved in everything, from Zumba classes as part of our Wellbeing Month, to arts and crafts. He has really got stuck in and made the most of all our fantastic facilities.
“We are all looking forward to having lots more fun with Jim and all our new residents at Foley Grange.”
Foley Grange is welcoming new residents for short and long term placements with a unique inclusive fee to give peace of mind to residents and their families.
