A Leicester care home will host a special dog show on Saturday 16th July, giving residents the chance to spend the afternoon in the company of their favourite family pets, following the success of their first ‘Scrufts’ event in 2021.
Bradley Hall care home, on Beaumont Leys in Leicester, is a residential and dementia care home operated by Ideal Carehomes. The care home, which used to be called Beaumont Hall, was renamed earlier this year in honour of local hero and volunteer Tony Bradley MBE (95).
During the event, which will take place in the garden of the care home, residents and their families will be able to vote for their favourite dog in a range of categories, such as the ‘most fabulous fella’, the ‘loveliest lady’, the ‘coolest pup’, the ‘dog with the waggiest tail’, the ‘best talent’ and, finally, the ‘best lookalike’ with their owner.
All the dogs who enter the show will receive a goodie bag with a ball and a cone full of treats and the winners will receive a certificate and a rosette.
Bradley Hall Home Manager, Lee Daly, said: “This is our second Scrufts dog show after last year’s event was such a great success. All our residents had a fantastic time so we are hoping to make it bigger and even better this year.
“Dogs provide a huge amount of comfort and companionship, so events like this are wonderful for the health and wellbeing of our residents so I’m sure everyone will have lots of fun and laughter at this year’s Scrufts.
“We’ve even added a ‘doggy station’ to our reception area, with water bowls, mats and toys to welcome visiting pups to our home in the run up to the big day. We would also like to ask our local community for any donations of dog food, toys, leads and accessories to be distributed to nearby dog shelters and charities.”
Scrufts 2022 will take place at Bradley Hall on 16th July at 13:30.
