Mountview care home recently invited their community to celebrate Teddy Bear Picnic Day.
Residents and staff put together invitations for local families to join them for day of teddy bear themed activities and an outdoor picnic, made by the care home kitchen team.
The children who came along all brought their favourite teddies and were also each given their own lunch box, which included teddy bear biscuits and cakes.
Visitors enjoyed a teddy bear hunt, pin the bow on the teddy, a pinata and much more.
The home also held a ‘name the bear’ competition, won by four-year-old Darcey Cotton. The winning name, ‘Snuggles’, was then given to Mountview’s teddy bear mascot.
Snuggles will be visiting local schools and play groups in the area, who will be able to look after the bear for a week at a time. The children will also write all about their adventures with Snuggles in his passport, before passing him back to the care home.
Sheila Barsby, a resident at Mountview, spent the day with her daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She said,
‘We all had the most amazing time, and I even won the luxury wicker hamper and a home-made teddy bear cake, which was delicious.’
Home Manager, Stacie Weaver, said,
“To be able to organise events for the community is incredible. We are very fortunate to have large, open, colourful gardens to be able to use, and get the community involved.
“I brought my daughter Maisey (9), who loved helping setting up and hiding the teddy bears for our hunt. She wore a teddy bears outfit, and then went to say hello to our residents. Seeing their smiles was amazing.

On 13th August 2022, Mountview will be inviting their local community to a Summer Fayre. Between 14:00-16:00. All will be welcome to enjoy a delicious BBQ, stalls, live entertainment and much more.
