New Cheltenham Care Home to Provide 65 Jobs for Local People

Brand-new luxury care home, Crofton Springs in Cheltenham, is recruiting for up to 65 team members ahead of its eagerly awaited launch in September this year.

Crofton Springs is named in tribute to Frances Emilia Crofton, an accomplished landscape painter who spent her late years living in Cheltenham. Crofton was a highly respected advocate for charities who supported the less fortunate, and flourished in the mid-19th century.

Crofton Springs, located on Gloucester Road, will be an EPC ‘A’ rated home. Through use of solar panels and ground source heat pump technology, the home can be operated as a Carbon Free Green home running without the use of gas.

The home boasts a lavish cinema, an airy botanical room leading onto landscaped gardens, and a beauty parlour.

The care home is now recruiting for various positions including care management, care assistants and kitchen, domestic and admin staff.

The new team will complete a thorough induction period before the home opens when they will provide first-rate residential and dementia care to up to 66 residents.

Daryl James is a Care Assistant at Crofton Springs’ sister home, Lime Trees in Shrewsbury. After studying health and social care in college, Daryl began working in care homes at the age of 18.

“I felt drawn to the care sector because it’s so interesting. Each resident has different needs, which you need to meet accordingly. It means you’re constantly learning, and your mind is always stimulated – no two days are the same!” Daryl says.

“It’s important for people looking at a career in care to be good communicators, to be patient, and to be willing to learn, adapt and have an open mind. These people can really thrive in care work.”

Maria Taylor, the Head of New Build Commissioning, said ‘This is a great time to start a career in social care. We have unique training and development initiatives, including industry-leading training, career progression opportunities via a range of learning resources such as E-learning and specialist workshops.

‘We’re excited to build our new Crofton Springs team, who we’re sure will give future residents the outstanding, kind care they deserve.’

The caring team will be focused on creating a welcoming and fulfilling lifestyle for the people who live at Crofton Springs, offering round-the-clock support, regular and varied activities, healthy and nutritious food and laundry and housekeeping service.
