Residents and the care team at Newfield Lodge care home in Castleford are preparing to open its garden for a Christmas Market.
The Newfield Lodge Christmas Market will take place on Saturday 4thDecember, from 2pm to 5pm, when visitors will be able to enjoy warm refreshments, including hot chocolate, mulled wine and warm mince pies.
A range of Christmas market stalls will sell crafts and gifts, including sweet treats and stocking fillers, such as reindeer hot chocolate and reindeer dust in special gift bags which have been made by residents at the care home.
There will also be stalls selling Avon products, candle and wax melts, hair accessories, keyrings made with resin and special homemade baubles and clay decorations which have also been made by some of the residents.
The care team at Newfield Lodge, on Brookfield Avenue in Castleford, have also created their very own Santa’s Grotto so that local families can come along and visit Father Christmas.
If the weather is suitable some residents will be helping to get ready for the afternoon plus help out on a couple of the stalls.
Michaela Scarfe, Newfield Lodge’s Activities Co-ordinator, said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming our local community into our garden for a festive afternoon and a little Christmas shopping.
“Some of our residents will be helping out on the day, both setting up the market and supporting on some of the stalls, so please come along and join in the fun.
“If any local producers, crafters or market sellers would like to join us on the day, we still have some stalls available so please get in touch.”
