Married couple from Millcroft care home in Redditch, Jean and Douglas Franklin, visited Alexandra Hospital on the NHS 75th anniversary to thank the staff for their hard work.
Handing out birthday cakes and thank you cards, Jean (95) and Douglas (94), accompanied by staff members from Millcroft, told each NHS staff member they met how much they appreciated their dedication to caring for local people.
Jean said, ‘It is so lovely to be able to meet so many of the wonderful staff in the hospital and GPs to thank them personally.’
Douglas added, ‘The NHS are always so busy, so it has been great to come and say thank you and show them how appreciated they really are.’
Claire Jones, a Staff Nurse at Alexandra Hospital, commented, ‘It is so lovely of Millcroft to think about all of the staff here at the hospital and to thank us for all we do. It was especially nice of Mr and Mrs Franklin to come in to say thank you as well, it just shows how long the NHS have been supporting the community.’
Staff and residents at Millcroft are continuing to show their appreciation for key workers through their weekly Blue Light Breakfast every Friday at 10:30, where those who provide essential services such as the NHS are welcome to visit Millcroft for a breakfast sandwich and hot drink.
Lyndsay Sard, the Home Manager at Millcroft, said, ‘Our local NHS workers provide vital support to our residents, so we want to do everything we can to show how much we value them.
‘It was great to be able to meet so many incredible people at Alexandra Hospital on the NHS 75th anniversary, and we hope they enjoy the delicious cakes from everyone at Millcroft.’
