Stoke Bardolph Care Home Celebrates ‘Good’ CQC Rating in First Inspection

Rivendell View care home in Stoke Bardolph, operated by Ideal Carehomes, are celebrating after receiving a CQC (Care Quality Commission) rating of ‘GOOD’ in their first inspection since the home opened in 2021.

Rivendell View were rated ‘GOOD’ in all five areas on inspection, which are designed to ensure that care homes are safe, caring, effective, responsive, and well-led.

During the visit, CQC inspectors observed the residents’ experience in the home. They spoke to several residents, their families, and staff members, seeking feedback on the service the care home offers.

In the resulting report from the CQC, Rivendell View was found to have a ‘strong person-centred culture’, and staff were commended for supporting residents to express their views and make decisions around their care and lifestyle. One resident said,

‘I really enjoy our regular residents’ meetings and getting involved in planning events in the home. I especially loved our ideas session in the summer when we took part in Gardens in Bloom.’

Gardens in Bloom is an annual competition run throughout all Ideal Carehomes to engage teams, residents and the local community in creating wonderful outside spaces for everyone to enjoy.

A relative added, ‘I’ve been included in everything, the care plan was done when [person] was admitted and they phone me with updates and to discuss changes, I know [person] is getting the best care.’

One relative described how their loved one had been supported to mobilise independently without a walking frame since moving to Rivendell View.

“[Name] was a bit unsteady on their feet and so they’ve built their stamina up. Now they don’t need to use a walker anymore.’

Inspectors found that Rivendell View’s values ‘ensured people were at the heart of the service’, and that staff were motivated to deliver ‘high-quality care’.

A healthcare professional who works with the care home noted to the inspectors, ‘You can see the staff genuinely care….’

Upon speaking to the care team at Rivendell View, the CQC inspector found the staff to be knowledgeable, skilled and experienced, saying ‘management and staff were motivated to put people at the heart of the service.’

Speaking of their time working at the care home, one staff member said, “I have had nothing but positive experiences since I started working here, the training is really in depth and management are very supportive.”

Thrilled with the outcome of the inspection, the Home Manager, Lisa Tungate, said,

‘I am incredibly proud of my team, and thankful for their hard work and dedication. We have some amazing people living with us, and we feel honoured every day to spend time with our residents.

‘Thank you to all the staff, residents, families and community members who have supported Rivendell View since we opened. It’s been great to see the wider Rivendell community growing over the last few months and we are enjoying building relationships with the new school and local businesses.  Here’s to a very positive future for us all!
