Residents from Coopers Croft care home in Stoke on Trent welcomed local dog owners to their Coopers Canine Capers dog show recently, along with special guest, Lord Mayor Majid Khan.
Families from the community brought their pups to compete in seven categories including Most Handsome Boy, Prettiest Girl and Best Treat Catcher.
A panel of judges was made up of 84-year-old Irene Potts, a resident at Coopers Croft, Lord Mayor Majid Khan, Lady Mayoress Tahira Khan and Counsellor Shaun Pender.
The judges presented third, second and first place winners in each category with a rosette and some treats, with first place winners receiving a trophy. Lord Mayor Majid Khan said,
‘It was a fabulous event that we thoroughly enjoyed. A really good turnout with some worthy winners. Extremely beautiful dogs and very talented. Congratulations to the winners and a huge round of applause for all the participants, you are all winners in my eyes.’
Irene Potts added, ‘It was a beautiful day and it made me feel proud to be part of Coopers Croft.’
Staff and residents at Coopers Croft are now looking forward to inviting the local community to their Halloween Party on 31st October, from 14:00 until 16:00. Alex Field, the Home Manager at Coopers Croft, said,
‘We’re very excited to welcome everybody to our spooky Halloween Party! All are welcome to come along in fancy dress to enjoy games, trick or treating, and some delicious refreshments.
‘There’s no need to book, just pop along to Coopers Croft for some Halloween fun!’
