Coopers Croft care home in Stoke-on-Trent rewarded two young men who are working towards achieving their Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Austin Worsop and Jacob Tonge had been spotted by staff and residents at Coopers Croft while litter picking in the local area, keeping the public spaces looking pristine.
As a thank you for their hard work, Coopers Croft invited Austin, Jacob, and three of their friends to a private movie showing in the care home’s luxury cinema room for Austin’s birthday – snacks included!
When the group arrived, Austin and Jacob were presented with certificates of appreciation, and Austin was surprised with a homemade birthday cake from the Coopers Croft kitchen team.
Jenny Weatherall, one of the young men’s relatives, said, ‘I can’t believe the kind messages the boys have been getting on social media, and it was so lovely of Coopers Croft to invite them to the cinema room.
‘They were so thankful for the day, it was amazing!’
Sam Smith, the Home Manager at Coopers Croft, added, ‘It’s incredible to see people of such a young age contributing to society, and making Stoke-on-Trent a better place to live.
‘Our residents were so impressed by the two boys, so we thought it only right to thank them for doing such a fantastic thing for our community. We can’t wait to see them again.’
Residents at Coopers Croft are looking forward to inviting their community to the home’s upcoming Spring Fair on Friday 5th April. From 10:00, all are welcome to enjoy stalls from local businesses selling handcrafted gifts, homemade refreshments, games, and a VIP appearance from Counsellor Shaun Pender.
