Residents at Haywood Lodge care home put on their dancing shoes to bust a move in their first Salsa lesson recently.
Designed to provide a fun, unique way to keep fit, the new Salsa class is open to all and is taught by international Latin dancer and teacher, John-James.
80-year-old Haywood Lodge resident, Patricia Pitt, said, ‘I absolutely loved the Salsa dancing! John got us all up and made the lesson really enjoyable. I’ve never had dance lessons before, but I used to go Rock and Roll dancing three times a week at the Tower Ballroom.
‘My daughter and her partner met at a dance class, so now they’re coming to our lessons at Haywood Lodge too. I love that we’re doing these lessons together, I can’t wait for the next one.’
Georgia Cooney, the Home Manager at Haywood Lodge, added, ‘At Haywood Lodge, we support our residents to live life to the fullest.
‘It’s important to us that we offer our residents a variety of opportunities and activities that they may never have tried before, and our Salsa class was a huge success! We definitely have some talented dancers in our home.’
