Cadley Hill View care home in Swadlincote, operated by Ideal Carehomes, are celebrating after receiving a CQC (Care Quality Commission) rating of ‘GOOD’ in their first ever inspection.
Opened in November 2021, Cadley Hill View was rated ‘GOOD’ in all five areas of inspection, which are designed to ensure that care homes are safe, caring, effective, responsive, and well-led.
During the visit, CQC inspectors observed the residents’ experience in the home. They spoke to several residents, their families, and staff members, seeking feedback on the service the care home offers.
In the resulting report from the CQC, Cadley Hill View was found to promote residents’ independence through ‘care and kindness’, respecting their dignity, and prompting a ‘positive and empowering culture’ in the home.
One resident complimented the leadership and care staff in the home, saying,
‘There is nothing I would improve about [Cadley Hill View], [Registered Manager] is very nice, shows a lot of empathy and I feel relaxed to approach them.’
Inspectors were especially impressed with the staff’s detailed knowledge of the residents’ life histories, memories, and family lives, which they used to ‘understand people and to plan activities and discussions.’
A relative of one resident said, ‘[The staff] involve my relative in activities and I can’t believe how much [they] have opened up.’
Another commented, ‘Staff really do care and take pride in their work, I think my relative has really benefited.’
The CQC inspectors complimented Cadley Hill View on the successes of their residents’ Garden Committee, who made decisions about the development of the care home’s garden and the addition of their locally famous beehive.
Cadley Hill View was also commended for its links to the local community, used to ‘increase the variety of activities and experiences’ available to the residents, and for its ‘commitment to continuously improving the service’ it provides.
93-year-old resident, Jean Parkes, who moved into Cadley Hill View in 2021, commented,
‘Cadley Hill View does outstanding work, the staff really deserve this wonderful report. They always go out of their way to put smiles on everyone’s faces, and I love all the social groups we can take part in. It’s lovely that we meet lots of people from the community too.’
Thrilled with the report, Home Manager at Cadley Hill View, Dave Godrich, said,
‘I am immensely proud of everyone that has contributed to this fantastic report. Thank you to our incredible team at Cadley Hill View for their continued dedication to providing the very best person-centred care and to our amazing residents and their families for their unwavering support.
‘We’d also like to thank our community, who support us and join in with our group events such as our Cinema Saturdays and our Knit and Natter group. We have lots more planned for the next few months including our Gardening club and our coffee mornings – we hope to see lots of people joining us!’
