West Derby Woman Writes Song in Honour of Mum Who Lives with Dementia
West Derby woman, Sue Kinsella, wrote and performed a song for those affected by dementia in honour of her mum, who lives with dementia at Larkhill Hall care home.
The song ‘Remember You Each Day’, sung to the music of ‘Always Remember Us This Way’ by Lady Gaga, explores the emotions and thoughts of those whose loved ones live with dementia. Sue said,
‘I wanted to try to explain to people the affect dementia has on family members and give people a better understanding about what dementia is. To some people, dementia is just a word used for people getting older.
‘I honestly didn’t think the song would have the impact it’s had overnight; it’s resonated with so many people.’
Paula Mountjoy, the Regional Director at Larkhill Hall, added, ‘Sue’s song is so raw and emotional. It’s brave to open your heart and share your personal experiences with others, and Sue has already touched so many people with her lyrics.
‘Dementia has an impact on so many people’s lives and it’s so important to understand what others are going through.’
