Wetherby Care Team Proudly Put Residents First with 100% Vaccine Uptake Ahead of Government Proposals
Management at Windsor Court care home express their pride as the whole team is vaccinated against Covid-19 ahead of upcoming Government legislation
As NHS England report on average 20% of care home staff across the country are not vaccinated the care team at Windsor Court are celebrating as every single member of staff has now received their first jab. With the government now confirming that all care home staff will be required by law to be vaccinated (unless medically exempt), the Wetherby home already have 100% of the team who have completed both doses of the vaccine.
In addition, all residents at the care home situated on Sandbeck Way, have had both jabs, putting Windsor Court in prime position to become one of the first fully vaccinated homes in the area.
Home Manager, Paula Mountjoy, believes receiving the vaccine is part of the team’s professional duty of care to protect residents and she is extremely proud of them for stepping up. She said, ‘As care providers, our team understands the huge responsibility we have to our residents and ensuring their safety from this virus has been of upmost importance throughout the pandemic. To see a 100% staff uptake of the vaccine just shows the dedication and caring nature of our team’.
‘It was understandable since the vaccine rollout began that some people were a little nervous about the jab, however, we chatted at length about their concerns, and we have lots of reassuring information, so they were able to make an informed decision. I am very proud of the team, and it just gives us the confidence to know we are doing everything we can to protect our residents’.
Resident, Peter Durham, 79 , said, ‘It makes me really happy to know that all of the care team have received their vaccines. It provides peace of mind and hopefully we can begin to move on from this terrible virus very soon’.
Lifestyle Manager, Kirsty Watson, has now completed the full vaccine process, she said, ‘I think it is a really positive step forward that everyone has had their jabs and I encourage anybody else who can get vaccinated to go! It is so quick and painless, and the list of pros far outweighs any cons. I feel pleased that I can continue to work knowing that I have done my part to protect the people around me’.
