Staff and residents at Ebor Court care home in York are inviting their local community to a weekly coffee morning.
Every Wednesday between 10:00-11:30, the home is welcoming anyone from the local area to have a cuppa, a piece of cake and a chat.
Visitors will also be able to tour the home’s newly refurbished facilities, thoughtfully decorated by the care team. Feature walls have been installed to represent meaningful activities to the residents, such as a florist window and a laundry room.
Shane Talbot, the Home Manager at Ebor Court, said,
‘The staff have really put their hearts and souls into making our home look incredible for our residents. We have a wonderful team, and we’re all so dedicated to making sure our residents enjoy living with us.’
The new features on the floor include colourful murals and paintings designed to help dementia residents to recognise parts of the home, which in turn improves their quality of life. Shane continued,
‘Our residents love the coffee mornings, and we can’t wait to show everyone our new decor. It’s a great chance for everyone to get together and get to know each other. We’d really love for more people from our community to join us every week.’
93-year-old resident, John Edwards, was joined by his friends for one coffee morning. He said,
`It was very nice, and very unexpected. I had two of my friends who came to visit me, and it was nice sitting outside in the sun with them. Next time I hope to invite my friend and her little grandson to join in.’
