Residents from Ebor Court care home in Nether Poppleton, York, recently enjoyed a ‘toe-tapping’ performance from Folk/Indian duo, Kate Griffin and Ford Collier.
Kate and Ford came to perform at Ebor Court in partnership with UK based charity, Live Music Now, who offer music-based sessions to enhance wellbeing and improve communication.
Previously headlining the Folk stage at Glastonbury and other UK festivals with their band, MISHRA, the duo is heavily influenced by American Folk and Classical Indian music.
The residents at Ebor Court loved the music, hearing some sounds from instruments they had never heard before. They enjoyed the session so much, that they asked the duo for an encore.
88-year-old resident, June Falkingham, said ‘They were marvellous, there wasn’t an instrument that they couldn’t play. We enjoyed everything about the concert, and what a lovely young couple they are. I hope we can get them to come back again soon. `
Shane Talbot, the Home Manager at Ebor Court, said the residents found the music ‘addictive’, with some getting up to dance with staff and other residents. He continued,
‘It was a fantastic performance, and the residents absolutely loved the music. We love to introduce our residents to new things, and fill their days with experiences they won’t forget.’
